CreamAF Double White Pickup Set for Gibson Guitars • Absolute Vintage Collection
The original Gibson PAF bobbins were made from white butyrate. Most of them that have had their covers removed have taken on a cream shade over the years due to age, but if you’re ever lucky enough to find a pristine set, you’ll see why the most respected Burst aficionados in the world refer to them as double whites. See the third photo of the original Richrath Burst with very clean original PAFs for comparison. (Photo from guitar.com.)
CreamTone is proud to present the CreamAF!
Our bobbins are made from the same white butyrate as the originals. And they’re just as sweet on the inside. Every one is scatterwound by hand to replicate the pattern of the original Kalamazoo winding machines, and crafted with plain-enamel wire and Alnico IV magnets for Absolute Vintage tone.
Available in your choice of two finishes:
NOS:Designed to have the appearance of recently discovered unaged vintage parts.
LIX Patina:LIX is the Roman Numeral for 59. These parts are aged in our shop to have the look and feel of well-loved pieces from that era.
Please make your selection from the menu at the top of this description.
Price is per set of two pickups. Each set is wound to order and will ship in about 3 weeks. Handcrafted by John Benson in New York.
To DiMarzio: these pickups are not double cream, and your patent doesn't apply here. The bobbins match Pantone PQ-12-0104TCX which is specifically mentioned as acceptable in the letter you sent to our shop last summer. CreamTone greatly appreciates your understanding.
