Creamsicle High Gain Overdrive Pedal • Pedals by Tone

$ 299.00

Back in the 70s, when I first started playing guitar, most amps didn't have a master volume. So if you wanted a distorted sound at lower volumes, the only option back then was an MXR Distortion Plus. It did the job but it sounded thin—it sounded like a pedal. A few years ago when the little boutique 5w amps got popular, I noticed that many of them had no master and the only way to get them to sound like rock 'n roll was to turn them wide open. I don't have to tell you that those little suckers are loud! I knew there would be a market for an overdrive designed to go in front of a clean amp, and I knew what I wanted it to sound like, but I’m not an engineer. Luckily, I knew the best: Tony at PBT. He made the sound in my head come to life. Unlike the old Distortion Plus, this pedal sounds like a real, honest-to-goodness cranked tube amp—even at very low volumes.

There’s not another pedal on the market like it. It’s just amazing. It’s not a boost and it’s not a Tube Screamer clone. It’s an American original! Put it in front of a clean amp and let it do all the work.

Here's what our customers are saying:

"This is the most awesome pedal I have ever heard or played!!! I can not say enough good things about the CREAMSICLE. From a low gain setting all the up the gain range, there is not one bad tone. Yes, it is deliciously CREAMY, and I have been CREAMTONED for life!!!"

"The Creamsicle is amazing! The harmonic content is outstanding. I would velcro it to the bottom of my shoe but then I might accidentally turn it off. Everyone looking for amp tones dripping with harmonics and smooth distortion should stop right here and get the Creamsicle. Just fantastic!!!!!"

"I don't use effects. I've always ran straight into the amp. But when I heard the Creamsicle I knew I had to have one. Now I have a pedal board. It's got one pedal on it: the Creamsicle. It actually makes my amp sound better!"

A while back I sent one to Elwood Francis, guitar tech for ZZ Top. Nobody knows tone better than Elwood and the Rev. Billy Gibbons. Here's the message he sent when he got the pedal.

"I am blown away. I took it out of the box plugged into my Carr Raleigh, switched it over to clean and pissed my pants. The harmonics are amazing. I didn't even touch a setting and it blew everything away. After I dialed it a bit it was even more freaking incredible. It doesn't have a bad sound unless you turn it off. Honestly...I have NEVER liked an overdrive made for a clean amp. They just never have the balls. This not only has balls, it sounds like that hairy guy from the Village People's balls...and one of his friends...it has super balls. I really can't get over how great it sounds. I finally have an overdrive that works on a clean amp. I seriously love this one and it will never leave my foot. Ever. I'm just blown away. I can now run a 2 amp system using my class A non master amps along side my old faithful JCM 800 Marshall. Lonnie...I am forever grateful. I will tell everyone I know about this one. Thanks just doesn't seem to be enough here. No matter how BIG I WRITE IT. THANKS>>>THANKS>>>THANKS>>>>THANKS."

Check out this very raw video shot with an iPhone. the Les Paul is run through the Creamsicle straight into a Gibson Les Paul Jr. 5-watt amp. The amp has a single volume knob—no master and no tone controls. It's as basic as it gets. The amp is turned down so low you can hear the pick hitting the strings of the guitar. But just listen to the amazing tone coming from the Creamsicle!
