Wiring Harness for Gibson USA Les Paul • 1957-1959 Drifted PIO Bumblebees
This is the ideal upgrade your Gibson Les Paul Traditional, Classic Standard, or any USA model with long shafts. Our handwired harness is built with real vintage paper-in-oil (PIO) Bumblebee caps—not reissues—to give you the most authentic vintage tone available in a harness today.
The colors of the stripes on Bumblebee capacitors indicates their original specs. The '59 Burst had .022 400v +/-20% and today that color pattern commands a hefty price tag in the collector's market.
We discovered that Bumblebees tend to drift in value over a large number of years. A capacitor rated at .022 in 1959 commonly reads differently today, and it's just as common for a cap originally rated at a different value to read .022 now. So we test vintage Bees by the lot and choose the ones in .022 spec range based on their current readings—not the original rating—so colors of their stripes will vary. And since they're not being sought out by collector's to restore an old Burst, they're much more affordable, but they sound identical.
We use only the finest long-shaft, CTS vintage-taper pots and build each harness by hand on our custom boards to guarantee that the pots are properly spaced for the Les Paul. Each one is grounded and wired 50's style just like the vintage Gibsons.
This complete wiring harness includes two vintage PIO Bumblebee caps, four pots, a Switchcraft toggle switch with pre-measured vintage braided wire installed, jack, #8 PVC tubing, and wiring diagram.
Made in USA.
Note: Our mounting boards are made from both brown fiberboard as shown and clear acrylic. We chose the dark fiberboards for the photographs because they worked better on the white background. Please be aware that your harness may ship on a clear board.
